What points should we pay attention to in the management of tomato rising period?
In the process of tomato planting management, the management of rising fruit stage is particularly crucial. At this stage, how to accurately control the growth elements in the tomato greenhouse has become a decisive step to improve the yield and quality. From temperature control to water and fertilizer management to pest control, every link needs to be carefully managed.
1. Temperature control
Attention should be paid to the management of temperature during the rising period of tomato. The temperature in the tomato greenhouse should be maintained at 28-30 ° C during the day and 14-15 ° C at night. However, this temperature is not static and should be adjusted appropriately according to the growth of tomatoes. For example, if the tomato is growing vigorously, the temperature at night can be lowered appropriately to avoid overgrowth. On the contrary, if the growth is weak, the night temperature should be appropriately increased to promote growth.
2. Water and fertilizer management
Water and fertilizer management is another key point. During the rising period, the supply of water and fertilizer should be ensured evenly to avoid excessive or insufficient. Sudden heavy watering and fertilization after a long drought can lead to cracked fruit. In addition, in terms of fertilization, attention should be paid to the use of organic nutrient fertilizers, such as alginic acid, fish protein and chitin. For tomato greenhouses grown continuously for many years, microbial inoculants can be added to inhibit harmful bacteria and prevent dead plants. When applying a large amount of elemental fertilizer, it should also be based on the growth of the plant, especially for the plants that have been topped, the amount of potassium fertilizer needs to be increased, and calcium fertilizer and borax fertilizer are added to promote the rapid expansion and smooth color transformation of the fruit.
3. Prevent disease in advance
As temperatures rise, disease prevention becomes particularly important. Installing insect nets at the vents and entrances of tomato greenhouses can keep pests out. It is also necessary to clear the weeds around the tomato greenhouse in time to prevent whiteflies from gathering. Yellow and blue traps are hung in the greenhouse to trap aphids, spot flies, whiteflies and thrips to reduce pest damage to tomatoes and the spread of viral diseases.
4. Timely and appropriate leaf beating
The bottom leaves should be removed in time to promote the color transformation of the fruit, but caution should be exercised to avoid excessive leaf beating affecting the development of the bottom fruits. Especially when the first ear fruit has not yet turned color, excessive beating should be avoided. However, in order to advance the market, you can appropriately hit a few more leaves. For plants that grow too vigorously, even if the fruit is not fully expanded, it can be appropriate to beat a few leaves from the small row to promote ventilation and light, thus helping the fruit to ripen.
