Control requirements of EC value in integrated water and fertilizer irrigation system
In modern agricultural technology, the integrated irrigation system of water and fertilizer has become an important means to improve crop yield and quality because of its high efficiency and precision. However, in this system, the control of EC value (conductivity) is also very critical, it is directly related to the growth of crops and nutrient absorption efficiency, the following is the control requirements of EC value in water and fertilizer integrated irrigation.
1. For substrates that do not contain any nutrients, such as rock wool and coconut husk, the EC value of the water-fertilizer solution must be extremely strict. In this matrix, the roots of the crop are directly exposed to the water and fertilizer solution exported from the pump house, which means that the nutrients in the solution directly determine the growth of the crop.
If the EC value is too high, it may cause salt accumulation and root burn. If the EC value is too low, it will lead to insufficient crop nutrition and hindered growth. Therefore, for such substrates, the EC value of the water and fertilizer solution must be precisely controlled to ensure that it meets the nutrient needs of the crop without causing damage to the root system.
2. For those substrates mixed with soil, wood chips, organic fertilizers, etc., the control of EC value is relatively loose. This type of substrate itself contains certain nutrients, which can provide some of the nutrients needed by the crop. When a water-fertilizer solution drops into such a matrix, the solution reacts with the components in the matrix to form a nutrient buffer zone. Therefore, the roots are not exposed to the original water and fertilizer solution output by the pump house, but the mixture after the matrix buffering and reaction.
In this case, the control of EC values can be adjusted according to the actual conditions of the soil and substrate to adapt to the needs of different crops. For example, if the content of organic matter in the soil and substrate is high, the EC value of the water and fertilizer solution may need to be reduced to avoid overnutrition; Conversely, if there are fewer nutrients in the soil and substrate, the EC value may need to be increased to supplement the nutrient requirements of the crop.
The control requirements of EC values in integrated irrigation systems vary with different substrates. For non-nutritive substrates, the control of EC values must be precise to ensure healthy crop growth; For the matrix containing nutrients, the control of EC value can be relatively relaxed and adjusted according to the actual situation of the matrix. By properly controlling the EC value, not only can improve the efficiency of the integrated irrigation system of water and fertilizer, but also improve the yield and quality of crops.
